Welcome to In-Italja: The Digital Atlas of the History of Jewish Inter-relations in Italy
“In-Italja” is a digital and dynamic atlas currently under development, designed as an open-access resource. It embraces an innovative methodological challenge at the intersection of digital humanities and Jewish history. For the first time, it offers a spatial perspective on the history of Jewish communities in Italy by integrating research data from archives, libraries, museums, and art collections.
This atlas delves into key themes, including social, economic, and cultural history, gender history, marriage history, Jewish-Christian relations and their mutual influences, the history of antisemitism, the history of Italy and the Mediterranean world, mobility, and artistic representations. Spanning from the Middle Ages to 1938, the project reflects a multidisciplinary approach, enriched by the contributions of a team of young scholars with diverse academic backgrounds. Explore a new way of understanding this rich and complex history, where geography meets narratives and opens new horizons for research and education.
