The IN-ITALJA Digital Atlas Is Now Online

IN-ITALJA Digital Atlas

The IN-ITALJA Digital Atlas is now online. It marks an important step forward in the study of Jewish mobility and Jewish-Christian relations in Italy from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century.

The atlas brings together more than 20,000 records drawn from archival documents, primary and secondary sources, and historical images. All materials are indexed by places, names, and years. Users can navigate a wide network of sources and discover connections across time and space. Together these records offer a new interpretation of the movements of Jewish communities and of the many forms of interaction between Jews and Christians over several centuries.

The portal also includes curated narratives and thematic pathways. These sections guide readers through key historical trajectories. They introduce the main themes of the project and present the many research questions opened by IN-ITALJA.

The IN-ITALJA Digital Atlas is designed as a research infrastructure for scholars and as a resource for anyone interested in the history of Jewish life and interreligious relations in Italy.

Scholars, students, and the broader public are invited to explore the atlas and discover the stories, connections, and research perspectives that emerge from the IN-ITALJA project.

This Digital Atlas synthesizes the findings of three PRIN research projects hosted by Sapienza University of Rome, University of Milan, Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna, and University of Pisa.
